People often speak about Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar or maybe Malaysia when it comes to China's influence in modern Asia but there is no country in Asia that has been so greatly influenced by China in the modern era than Laos. Laos is representative of modern Chinese influence in Asia. Boten is one place where the Laotian kip and Chinese yuan are both accepted but even more interesting is the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone (GTSEZ), while not tied specifically to the Chinese government, it's being run by a Chinese kingpin. Chinese cultural influence is widespread in the zone as Chinese people, including traders and investors have contributed to the development of the zone. The GTSEZ is inhabited by Laotians, Chinese, Thais, Burmese, Indians and Vietnamese who are engaged in business in the area. Like it or not, China is the dominant power in Asia today.

There are other motives behind why the US has a history of either invading or inserting themselves into foreign conflicts. There is nothing for the US to gain in Myanmar so they will never get involved. The US also has no leverage in Myanmar to be able to sway things in the country.

Those railway lines that the Indians ride on were laid out by poor Indian labourers under the commandment of the British. Europeans love to claim the positives of colonisation but will NEVER accept the negatives European colonisation brought. They will get upset when people speak about Chinese influence in the Global South and call it "neocolonialism". The sheer irony. Just accept it, China is the leader of the Global South and they're contributing more without the need to colonise and rule an entire nation for their own benefit. BTW, the British wanted those railway networks so they could transport their soldiers and other people around the nation, they did not gaf about the Indians.

  26.  @amalkumar2775  Quad is not an economic alliance, it's a military alliance. It's a security dialogue. The whole purpose of Quad is to contain China's expansion in Asia militarily. All four countries conduct military exercises. It's a full blown military alliance, please look it up.

Problem is that you think that the Rohingya issue is due to religion, it's not. 1. It has nothing to do with religion. Don't just say "Muslim massacre" because hat's not true at all. There are other Burmese Muslims who are living in peace in Myanmar. 2. The Rohingya genocide stems to issues created by the British colonial administration during WWII. Nothing to do with religion. 3. Many young Burmese are now realising that they should have stood by the Rohingyas because they realise that the military is to blame. 4. Internet access was restricted in Myanmar until recently, nobody actually knew the depth of the issue and were brainwashed by the military and ultranationalists. Unfortunately, a lot of people, actually know nothing about the Rohingya issue and there are even foreigners supporting the Burmese military because they think Burmese people are getting pay back. The military is to blame for every single thing that happened in Rakhine state in late 2017. The Burmese military has been targeting Rohingyas since the 1970s. There was a time when Rohingyas were recognised and part of the Burmese government. The military ruined all of that.

  31. China and India abstaining is due to very simple reasons. Here's the run down: 1. India abstained because India and Russia have what they call a "special relationship". They have been close since India's independence. 2. China abstained because China is an ally of Russia This is the reality not about Western countries and their hegemonic capabilities because if that was the case, why would India be part of the US-led Quad (an organisation attempting to contain China within Asia through US help)?

As for the other one, yes I recognise my error now and I apologise and retract what I stated in my initial comment. I have deleted the comment for prevent any further confusion. Just one thing though, there is a difference between being born somewhere and tracing your autosomal DNA to your ancestral homeland. You werre born and raised in the US so you're an American but your ethnicity is native to England and Wales. For example, ethnic Chinese and ethnic Indians of Singapore (who in part developed Singapore into what it is today) don't declare that they are native to Singapore. Singapore recognises the native Malays, recognises Malay as the national language and one of the official languages of the country and they actually sing the Singaporean national anthem in Malay. So they're all Singaporeans (having lived there for hundreds of years) but ethnically speaking their ancestry traces back to East Asia and South Asia.

The only countries that can actually influence the way things work in Myanmar are China, India, Japan and certain Southeast Asian nations - countries that do business with the Burmese military. That's why the US wants to use India and Japan as a way to fix the issue. The thing is neither India and Japan want to ge directly involved because those two countries and most other Asian countries are countries that stand by the non-alignment policy.
