@gottisttott6350 Yeah you should practice all of them. The school differences don't mean much imo.

@user-k4d-e59mo28oc What has any of this got to do with Korea and Japan? Gandhara was in ancient India (modern western Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan).

@UncleElias Buddhism spread across Asia through cultural contact. India's cultural influence was already widespread across Southeast Asia, the region had already been practicing Hinduism before the adoption of Buddhism by the various kings that ruled various areas of SEA that are now part of modern Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos and Indonesia. Sri Lanka became Buddhist because Ashoka's children took a Bodhi tree sapling and the Buddhist teachings to Sri Lanka at the request of the King of Sri Lanka. Buddhism really took hold in China during the Tang Dynasty due to patronage from the Chinese emperors, prior to that it wasn't nearly as a popular religion in China despite having a presence in the country since the Han dynasty, and from there it spread with Chinese cultural influence to Japan, Korea and Vietnam. You need to do some research on Asian history.

@paolamaria1992 Europeans went to Asia because it was richer. Use Google and learn. Swallow that Christian pride and learn.

@paolamaria1992 Most Asians in the world live in Asia, it has a population of 4 billion. What on earth are you talking about??? Most Asians don't live in Asia?? What on earth are you saying?? Get educated! What is your obsession with Pakistan and Sri Lanka and since when do they equal the whole of Asia???? Understand the fact that Christianity has NOTHING to do with development.
5
@paolamaria1992 Civilisations rise and fall. It happens to every civilisation, understand this. Asia's civilisations were once at their peak but declined but now they're once again rising which is why we call it the Asian Century. Why would a German, Dutch or Italian need to go to Pakistan or Sri Lanka?
5
@paolamaria1992 Stop being obtuse and understand the fact that Christianity has NOTHING to do with development, in fact Christianity is what causes a country to not develop. There are plenty of White people that have retired and live in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bali and Cambodia because cost of living is cheaper but also because these countries/regions are tropical and safe.

Buddhism emerged as a result of the Buddha's disagreement with the Vedic practices of the high caste populations.

@paolamaria1992 What part of Christianity had nothing to do with industrialisation do you not understand???? That's a fact, it's not ignorance.
3
@paolamaria1992 A country that combines religion, especially Abrahamic religions, with government never succeeds. Secular nations thrive, not religious theocracies
3
@paolamaria1992 because of the Christian doctrine itself??? Idk what planet you're living on but that has NOTHING to do with Christianity because Japan and Singapore and many other Buddhist-majority nations have embraced secularism too. How do you explain that???
3
@paolamaria1992 Not all African countries have Muslim communities and why blame Muslims? Christians care in control all of some of these countries that I am talking about. You can't argue any further because you've been proven wrong. Christianity drastically affects the way a society behaves. We can see how Christianity persecutes non-Christians, as was the case in South Vietnam and we can see how its has strong influence on the way people must live their lives. It changes society completely and has nothing to do with development. There is a reason why the so-called Bible Belt in the US is among the poorest regions in America. Accept these facts.

Outside of the concept of basic geography, when you think about it, Eurasia is really just one region in terms of culture and genetics and all that as it is a gradient that transitions from the more West Eurasian-based cultures and groups of the west to the more East Eurasian-based cultures and groups of the east. The two sides have been interacting with one another ever since the first humans emerged out of Africa.
3
That's because they all became Muslims. So they forgot about their pre-Islamic heritage.
2
@paolamaria1992 Why do Christians constantly belittle other beliefs? This video is about Buddhism but this Christian woman is here arguing and saying her religion is the best.
2
@paolamaria1992 Is there ever a second where these people don't force their beliefs onto other people??????
2
@paolamaria1992 and the majority of Africa is Christian-majority and yet they are among the poorest nations in the world. Your logic makes no sense. Christianity had no role to play in industrialisation. Just accept this fact instead of arguing with me. Well your personal opinions do affect your opinions as can be seen by the statements that you're making.
2
@battlerushiromiya651 Buddhist culture isn't responsible for ethnic nationalism among the majority ethnic groups in Sri Lanka and Myanmar. If it's Buddhist culture, why don't we see this nationalism in Taiwan, Cambodia, Singapore, Laos, among the Buddhist minorities in Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia or Malaysia?
2
Indo-European is just a language family The ancient Indo-European civilisations did not persist after they mixed with the various groups already extant in Europe and Central and South Asia.

What a crazy thing to say but not surprised that the thing that said it is a raging weeb.
1
@UncleElias Buddhism isn't actually a missionary belief system. The only missionary work that ever occurred was under the rule of Ashoka of the Mauryan Empire who felt compelled to spread the teaching of Buddhism after being overwhelmed by the massacre he inflicted on the Kalinga kingdom. This is why Buddhism only ever took hold in Asia, the furthest west it ever went was Central Asia and each region it was syncretised with local beliefs.
1
@MustAfaalik Not to be conflated with the missionaries that people are used to in the West, very different. The term "missionary" should not be used.
1
@paolamaria1992 The West became better because it industrialised. It has NOTHING to do with Christianity. Stop being delulu.

Get off the high horse because there is absolutely NOTHING appealing about Christianity. Believing in a gigantic man in the sky, forcing people to convert to that religion, discrimination of people who don't believe in Christian practices. Christianity hinders development, y'all don't hold a flame to any of the Eastern religions. Got it??

@paolamaria1992 Christianity has NOTHING to do with industrialisation. That's not ignorance, it's a fact. Cry harder. States succeed when they are secular, when they abide by religious rules they collapse and wither. No country is successful when they combine religion, especially Abrahamic religions, with government. Take your Christian tears elsewhere, nobody gaf about that.
1
@paolamaria1992 A country that combines religion, especially Abrahamic religions, with government never succeeds. Secular nations thrive, not religious theocracies dictated by an imaginary huge bearded man living in the sky. Cry harder.

@paolamaria1992 Why do Christians constantly belittle other beliefs? This video is about Buddhism but this Christian woman is here arguing and saying her religion is the best. Learn to respect other beliefs and other people. There's a reason why so many people in the West mock Christianity cause of people like you.

@battlerushiromiya651 That has nothing to do with Buddhism. You need to do some research on Asian history
1
@battlerushiromiya651 They became Christian during colonisation though.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Sectarianism in Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand has nothing to do with religion. Idk why you'd even mention them.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Singapore has a Buddhist majority. Most Japanese identify as atheist because they don't believe in organised religion. Shinto-Buddhism is not organised religion, it's a cultural system. Don't conflate your Western understanding of religion on Asian societies.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Wrong. That had nothing to do with it.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Why do Christians come to other religion videos and always proclaim how great they are? If y'all are so great then why are y'all constantly having to say it?
1
@battlerushiromiya651 You trying to make issues in Sri Lanka, Thailand and Myanmar (and Cambodia which I literally have no idea why you even mentioned that country) is so funny. Not everything is about religion. There is a world outside of it and you coming here and trying to simplify issues, particularly ones that emerged during colonisation, as religious-based is such an asinine thing to do. So-called Asian Century and still people don't know what's going on in Asia.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Where in Buddhism does it say that genocide is allowed or that there is a god telling them what to do? Maybe stop conflating religion with ethnic politics because Lhotshampa Buddhists, Shan/Rakhine/Karen Buddhists and Sri Lankan Tamil Buddhists were not spared the violence they have faced.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 A few times a year? This is what I am talking about. You're imposing your Western worldview on an Asian setting. People in Japan don't become Shinto or Buddhist a few times a year, being Shinto-Buddhist is a simple part of the traditional Japanese culture. Its the same reason why North Korea is lenient towards Buddhism than other religions and has even designated Vesak a public holiday at times in the past because they view Buddhism as an integral part of Korean culture. So don't conflate ethnic nationalism in parts of S/SE Asia with religion.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 They don't justify their actions by using Buddhism. It's ethnic nationalism. You're going to have to do some thorough research on Eastern mindsets to understand what I am saying or we're going to keep going round and round in circles. There is no principle in Buddhism that encourages such behaviour. You can keep trying to conflate things but the fact is that you don't actually understand what you're talking about.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 and that's their opinion and you got mad.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 You saying these things is because you think religion dictates everything. Saying things like Christian countries" and "Buddhist countries" makes no sense when you actually think about it.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Where in Asia? A Christian-majority country or is it an Islamic-majority nation cause you most definitely are not from a Buddhist-majority one or any East Asian one for that matter.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 and the Buddhist Crisis in Vietnam started because of Christian persecution.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Buddhism is not a culture. It's a belief system. You're talking about Sinhalese Buddhist culture, Bamar Buddhist culture, Thai Buddhist culture etc.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 I'm not saying Christianity is the reason for any bad things. I was merely trying to point out to that Christian woman how her view was wrong because it made no sense.
1
@battlerushiromiya651 Really? If that's the case then why were Lhotshampa Buddhists expelled and Shan, Rakhine and Karen Buddhists genocided? You won't be able to answer that.
