There's no need to be upset just because Sikkim doesn't let Nigerians into their state. I'm not from India but I'm sure other states in India let Nigerians visit.

It's so sad that all that anti-India hate has people thinking the whole of India is like that.

I think there are so many issues in that part of the world. I read that China has a history of refusing Indian pilgrims travel to the Hindu holy sites in Tibet but let's Nepalese and other non-Indians visit those sites. It's like tit for tat, Sikkim in India doesn't let Chinese visit Sikkim in return. I think the issue of geopolitics and the threat of a diplomatic crisis at any moment is why there are so many restrictions. The Himalays: for such a tranquil part of the world, it seems sad the idea of a diplomatic crisis breaking out at any moment.

I googled it and I couldn't find anything but I learned that there is a history of Nigerians committing crime in Sikkim, dating back to at least 2011. The other countries on the list make sense cause there are diplomatic and territorial issues with those countries but Nigeria seems so out of place because it's not even in Asia. So it's probably because of the criminal activity.

Sikkimese people are ethnically diverse. All people living in Sikkim migrated from somewhere. All of the people that lived in Sikkim are also found in Nepal and Bhutan, none in Tibet. These borders are only modern, they've all been living there for centuries.

No, Buddhism is not a branch of Hinduism but it is a Dharmic faith however.

She has an Indian accent cause she's actually an Indian and not from China.

@wakhansharma8225 I'm not Indian, please translate.

He was born Hindu but he did not agree with the Hindu casteist life which is why he became an ascetic.

@Randomyj Yes but that doesn't mean Buddhism is a branch of Hinduism.

As someone who is neither Chinese nor Indian, I think putting blame on one side makes no sense because clearly both sides have faulted each other. Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan being listed there separately makes sense as they all have their own separate passports whether PRC likes it or not. The fact is that they have their own passports. Tibet wasn't listed as a country, so idk why you said that. Finally, I remember reading that China has a history of barring Indian pilgrims visiting sacred sites in Tibet like Mount Kailash. So the idea of Indians not letting Chinese into Sikkim doesn't seem so strange. The only reason why this stuff happens is both those countries continue to argue with each other over territory, Tibet, Dalai Lama and so on. If all of this was resolved, none of this would be an issue.

Politics always complicate things. That whole region, which is traditionally always peaceful, is always on edge because of the growing geopolitical issues in Asia... such a shame.

@WaMo721 I think there should be a difference noted between the Gorkhas who are from Sikkim and other groups found in Nepal like Limbu - who are all Sikkimese and any newer immigrants, if there are any. They've all been living there before modern borders were drawn.
1
 @wakhansharma8225 Aren't you Indian?
1
@Radee1989 What are you talking about? Go look at the ethnic groups that form the Sikkimese population, all of these ethnic groups are also found in Nepal and Bhutan. Do some research before spreading lies.
1
@Radee1989 I know but that doesn't change the fact that all of the ethnic groups in Sikkim are also found in Nepal and Bhutan
1
@RoseRose-gk6ku You need to do a lot more research.

@Mclovin96X A normal traveller is not going to visit a slum...
1
@dianbb I feel the same way actually but there are other areas of that country that have a better standard of living like Sikkim and Kerala but it's probably better to wait until it develops more, which is what I'm doing.

@tarunika983 Y'all need to get the BJP or something to put pressure on Big Tech and stop allowing them to boost anti-India posts online on Western social media. The damage those posts have done is tragic because I've seen other videos from India like some of the new smart cities in Gujarat and Noida and the southern states that look really amazing also all of your metro train stations and trains but people always see poor regions in Uttar Pradesh or something and think that's how the whole of India looks like. I think India is a beautiful country, please just do something. Y'all deserve so much better.

The Buddha was born in Lumbini, in what is now modern Nepal. It was part of the Shakya Janapada (Shakya Republic) at the time, which is now part of modern India and Nepal. There is a mythological story that the Buddha visited Sri Lanka but there is no credibly evidence for it. The depiction of the Buddha with blue eyes is an art style only common in Himalayan regions like Nepal and Tibet and associated with the mythical 32 marks of a great man.

Was she speaking in Nepali or was it Hindi?
1
@MrinangoCHAKRABORTY9103 What does that mean? So do Sikkimese people speak Hindi too?
1
 @MrinangoCHAKRABORTY9103 Thanks for answering.

It's culturally related to Nepal and Bhutan too.

@precise-w3y Hinduism isn't an organised belief system. So he can't leave anything. He just simply wanted to understand the world beyond the worldview presented to him through the varna system.
1
Not a nice thing to say at all. Didn't your parents teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it?
1
Where's the correlation??
1
It was against Sri Lankan Tamils, not South Indians...
1
@ABO-Destiny Omg that's so sad. I have a positive view of Hinduism as a Buddhist but I must say all that Hindutva/Hindu nationalism stuff is not nice to see. I always think of Hinduism as a way of life but the nationalists make it sound so rigid and strict.
1
@ABO-Destiny He was critical of it which is why he became an ascetic. That is the truth. Buddhism would've never formed had he never disagreed with casteism.
1
@ABO-Destiny He didn't agree with casteism and wanted to understand the meaning of life after seeing the reality of the world outside of the palace that belonged to his father.
