  2.  @tourvanvan2145  Lockdowns did work and that's why Asia-Pacific countries ranging from Sri Lanka to Australia to China were successful in controlling the spread of COVID-19 during 2020 and 2021. Most of Asia-Pacific was able to control COVID-19 through lockdowns. Countries began to falter when more virulent strains began to emerge such as Alpha, Delta and Omicron. China's current lockdown is not working because of the nature of Omicron and because people have grown tired of continuous lockdowns. At a point in time, lockdowns did work.

  3. @Dnpe There are plenty of examples of how lockdowns did work. The reason why Asia-Pacific had tremendously low fatality rates and death tolls compared to the US, Canada and Europe in 2020 and 2021 is due to the lockdowns. Cultural mentality played a huge role in Asia's success in using lockdowns. Eastern cultures focus on community so it's the community's wellbeing over the individual's. This is different in Western cultures where individualism is prized. This is why the US and Europe were rocked very early on with calls of "freedom" and denouncing lockdowns and use of masks. Sri Lanka is experiencing mass protests because their government stole all of their money, it has nothing to do with COVID-19 lockdowns.

  5.  @Wise_Thinking_All  The President and Sri Lankan government in general are responsible. They kept on borrowing money from different institutions like the Asian Development Bank, IMF and countries like India, China and Japan to construct infrastructure. They stole the people's money and finally ran out of foreign currency to pay for imported goods like fuel and essential services.

  10.  @derekathomson  No, it's not part of a plan for a new world order. China is the only country still practicing the Zero Covid strategy which is why a lockdown is in place at the moment. Mainland China was also not exposed to a lot of the virulent strains that spread across the rest of the world and so the population has weaker immunity compared to the rest of the world. Additionally, China's indigenous vaccines don't work against Omicron and were quite weak against COVID-19 in general. So the Chinese government is still resorting to the Zero COVID strategy while its indigenous mRNA vaccine completes its required trials so it's safe for public use.
