Mahbubani's point about how the mainstream Western media claims that "Asians keep fighting and will never get along" is very true because it's still a point discussed in all arenas of geopolitics including by book authors, political scientists and lay people online. The reality is that despite the border issues between different Asian countries and, for some, fraught histories amongst each other, almost all of these nations believe in non-alignment and the belief that they despite issues between each other, they must work together. That's why things like the Asian Development Bank and RCEP emerge without any issue and why at times of distress, Asian representatives abstain or vote against resolutions against the UN. The most recent ones being the Hong Kong protests in 2019 and the Myanmar crisis of the late 2010s, most Asian countries abstained and voted against resolutions condemning China and Myanmar. It sounds horrible but it's because they believe in non-alignment and these are "internal issues".

These past two years of anti-India hate on social media that has affected everybody from Indians to people who look Indian that aren't even Asian like that poor Venezuelan girl that was blasted by Europeans on TikTok who mistook her as an Indian has been pure hell. I'm so glad India woke up and chose China. Asia on top.
