russian military
Dmitri Valerievich Utkin was an agent of the GRU special forces, where he served as a lieutenant colonel. He is believed to have been one of the founders of the Wagner Group, a Russian mercenary group, as he matches what is believed to be his callsign, Wagner. Utkin was awarded four Orders of Courage.
Russia and the Slavic body
Utkin served as commander of the 700th Separate Special Detachment of the 2nd Separate Special Brigade of the Main Directorate of the Higher General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (GRU), stationed in Pechory, Pskov Oblast, until 2013. [15] ] [16] After retiring, he joined the Slavic Corps, fighting alongside Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the 2013 civil war, and returned to Moscow in October. [17]

Edit
Almost immediately after returning to Russia, Utkin is said to have created his own mercenary group. Utkin, who supposedly has a passion for the history of the Third Reich; he had the callsign Wagner, presumably in honor of Richard Wagner, [17] [18] [19] Adolf Hitler's favorite musician.

Will Russia one day pay a price for war crimes in Ukraine?
