  5. They are such a good books that I literally had to print the pdf I bought and I'm keeping it on the table(the only books there). They introduced me to such a different world with all the formalising right from the basics. I haven't even conpleted it, because it's just so packed with interesting thoughts. One thing to note is that these books only deal with real analysis(I hope I'm right on this). It's a timeless book, but somehow this not the standard of how the subject is taught and the book isn't even that popular, should get waay more press imo.

  7. I don't think learning fast is a talent. I'd prefer much more to be that person that maybe takes longer to learn something, but then becomes really creative with it, you know, at least getting fazed by the learning material a little bit, not just throwing it into your universal light speed trash can memory to retrieve it during the test. That's no talent to me... things take time, so maybe you're talented, but just didn't get to the point where it matters yet.

  16. It's not opinions... mr. Strang is a teaching engineers at MIT, of course for them lingebra is more important, because nowadays the only way to really crunch any numbers in a computer is by using linear algebra. Calculus takes usually at least 3 courses in uni, but algebra gets only one, so it's definitely undervalued for engineers

  21. The math and physics is so superficial, but there's more material in volume that you have to take in. But the greatest and the worst thing in math for me is that most or all of the highest quality learning is done solo (Just my opinion, is it wrong?), so I can probably do that independently too. I'm kind of failing at that so far though...

  22. There is such a drag to beginning this kind of stuff... I've been looking into project-based learning and it worked well as a tool to reduce drag and outline a structure of a topic for me, but I realized that there is no such thing in math except those that are unfeasibly time demanding, like writing a textbook, so I have a suggestion. Could you make a list of some 'projects' in maths? (A good time-span for beginner projects is generally 2 weeks to a month, goals should be as concrete as possible) btw. I'm a huge fan. This was weirdly funny :D

  23. In my country, people who study math and physics frequently sleep at the library and just do it all day. Unless you're that kind of person, the answer is a big NO.

  25. ​ @TheMathSorcerer  It's a specialty of math-physics faculty of Charles university in Prague, Czech republic. Even though it's still only a few people, it makes me glad Czechs care about science. I'm studying EECS at CTU Prague. It's also hard, but not that much...
