@stealthbum34 Cuba and North Korea will be leading the way in economic recovery then seeing as they ditched right wing ideology decades ago! you will find the EU's record trade deficit this past year is testament to the horrific trade barriers the EU cartel has imposed on themselves. Brexit trade barriers are minuscule compared to the EU trade barriers.

@stealthbum34 the whole point is that there ARE massive trade barriers between the EU and that thing you ignore, the REST OF THE PLANET. The EU cannot survive as a cartel/gang trading amongst itself, as the gang doesn't have enough resources like coal, gas, oil, etc. it is now finding out the hard way that it's trade barriers with the rest of the world count for a LOT more than its free trade withing the tiny blob of Europe called the EU! Think globally for once and you will get it!

@stealthbum34 the Conservatives never closed any coal mines. the Conservatives refused to keep lavishing taxpayers' money on coal mines that could not turn a profit. Basic business sense (which you clearly lack). If said coal mines are now needed and can turn a profit on the open market, open them up! Simple supply and demand! would have been a lot easier to keep trading with Russia.

What trade barriers have Brexiteers EVER insisted upon? 2) Leaving the EU means the UK has the freedom to negotiate whatever trade deals and tariffs it desires. Those tariffs may be higher, lower, or zero compared to what we had in the EU. The point is, UK has the FREEDOM to negotiate what we want, and not FORCED to follow the dictates of Brussels! I know "freedom" is a strange concept for the brainwashed Remoaner! 3) I didn't say the EU ignores trade deals. I said Remoaners ignore the benefits of trade deals with the rest of the planet and always focus on the frictionless trade of a tiny blob on the world map called "EU". it is narrow-minded. Little Europeaners. 4) Coal is indeed finite. So what? When we start to run short of coal the market price will drive it up beyond the price of renewable energy. so let's use coal til we get to that point. basic economics. 5) Left Wing thinking is not even thinking short term, mid term or long term! Your thinking is just idealism, fantasy and what you can virtue signal about. in the real world, coal is a solution that your useless windmills can't provide, yet. Get real and learn the basics.

@stealthbum34 the more parasites that latch on to the taxpayer funded NHS, the more parasites you will get! it's a business model that works only when the funding can always exceed the demands, which it can't with current levels of immigration. The population has increased massively in the last decade. The bulk of that population are net recipients, not net contributors, so the taxpayer has to keep coughing up more and more from a dwindling income. It doesn't work, hence we see its slow, agonizing collapse. These facts would be the same under Labour. If you try to tax the rich, investments will flow out of the country and government revenues will decrease. So, either privatize it or fund it through voluntary contributions. Surely Socialist multi billionaires like Soros would contribute billions, right? or....is it only other peoples' money that they love to spend?:)

@stealthbum34 1) Only legal immigrants who go through the entire immigration process will pay the surcharge you mention. I know a few of them. This surcharge, by the way, goes nowhere NEAR covering the expenses of the extended family that inevitably follow. Go to your local A and E and make a note of the enormous immigrant presence 2) Illegal immigrants pay nothing, hands out, waiting for the taxpayer to cover all expenses. it's a disgrace and needs to be stopped. Parasites, the lot of them. 3) Some immigrants who stay end up paying contributions. The majority do not, and on balance, immigrants are net recipients, not contributors, by a long way. 3) The skilled workers Britain needs should be enticed here by the legal immigration process. But more importantly, converting the masses of unemployed and under employed already here into productive members of society should be the aim. 4) Funnily enough, countries that have no illegal immigration, Japan, Korea, etc, have no big problems with skilled labor. so, bang goes the theory that a modern economy needs immigrant labor. it is nonsense. 5) Yes, the rich dodge taxes, so, either fix the laws so that they can't dodge, or reduce taxes so they are not tempted to. Your argument that the "rich dodge paying taxes" is confirmation that taxes are too high. 6) My arguments are indeed old, because they have stood the test of time, and they still apply today. Keep learning the reality of the world and you will eventually see that Socialism is a road to ruin, because it involves taking other people's money and spending it on a lot of stuff (NHS) that doesn't work.

I have not denied that Conservative governments have made a mess of things, but I stated very clearly that there is no difference between the Blair New Labour gang and the new soppy Conservatives. Try to stop thinking in terms of party politics. It's meaningless. Think in terms of issues, like Brexit, Green energy, immigration, sanctions on Russia, because it's the issues of today that divide the country, and it is not on party lines. Believe me, your type have no clue how to build anything, be it out of ashes or whatever. All you can do is think of destructive ways to steal more money from the producers of the country, then scratch your heads when the NHS falls apart. @stealthbum34 the producers of any country are those that put more into the system (through tax contributions and charitable donations) than take out of the system (through using public services). You would be surprised how many are parasites and how few are net contributors. Basically, thank God for the wealthy...the masses they pay in tax basically keep the hordes of parasites going. But you only find that in welfare states. go to somewhere like Mexico and you'll find the reverse is true.

UK has abandoned the basics of capitalism and embraced excessive government intervention. and yes, the Tories are as much to blame as Labour, though Blair in particular thought it was a really good idea to import masses of parasitic immigrants. UK got exactly what it deserves, and that is why I am happy to avoid the place and spend time in places that are safer, freer, and have maintained a sense of national identity. UK, like the rest of the dopes in Europe, told Russia that they would not import any more Russian energy, kissed it goodbye, and that caused the price of energy worldwide to rocket and supplies to the West diminish or disappear. Selling off British gas reserves did NOTHING to start this present energy poverty. It was the idiocy of sanctioning Russia, and if you are too blind to see that, I can't help you. Do you really think that the Conservatives selling off British gas reserves caused the price of energy to sky rocket in Germany too?:) think!
