  1. this is very simple. the aim of the sanctions was to so cripple the Russian economy so that either Putin would be removed by popular uprising or the Russian economy would not be able to fuel a war, or both. Neither have come anywhere near happening, so all the waffle about how Russia will suffer long term growth problems is irrelevant. Russia will have won by then. The sanctions failed miserably, and a predicted contraction of 15% compared to the reality of 2% shows how useless these experts are.
