@ArtU4All am not convinced Europe needs more people, but you are right that Poland also showed that if you assert "no means no" then illegal immigration can be reduced to close to zero.

No, Italy has NOT closed its borders to "rescue ships". Stop lying. It has closed its borders to trans Mediterranean taxi services for illegal immigrants.

@hayleyfay4779 it has an absolutely massive, unpatrolled coastline that makes it easy for people smuggling, and it is not in the middle of nowhere when its northern tip is just the Torres Straits away from millions of Asians who want to get in. It just takes the will to say "no one entering illegally will ever be able to stay" and once that is enforced, the people smuggling ceases.

@ArtU4All no doubt there are many immigrants of a much friendlier disposition than natives, and vice versa, anecdotally this could be a to and fro ad nauseum. however, it would be nice for the natives of a country to be offered a vote on more or less immigration, given everyone is affected by it but are never consulted on the matter
