  1. the crime here is that no one, during Nahel's upbringing, took a minute to say, "Nahel, if ever you get stopped by the police, co-operate fully and respectfully, always". If someone did impart such valuable advice, then Nahel played Russian Roulette by ignoring it, and, voilà.

  3. you know it has to be systemic racism, because had Nahel done the same thing in his native Algeria, the police there would have just waved him fondly goodbye, the Algerian police are well known for not enforcing the law with a bullet in the back.
