Russia already promised free grain to those African countries in need! You can't get more generous than that! Only fair the Western countries with sanctions on Russia pay the full market rate if they won't drop the sanctions.

@thegreatdane3627 that's right, let's condemn Russia for offering free grain to Africa and failing to deliver any just 5 days after the Grain Deal announcement! Both Canada and USA are massive grain producers. When was the last time either of those most generous and caring Western powerhouses offered free grain to Africa? What is Denmark shipping to Africa for free these days?

@AkiseAk Ukraine was never a nuclear power, because the newly constituted state of Ukraine that formed following the collapse of the Soviet Union was prohibited from inheriting nuclear weapons. By international agreement, of the 15 new ex Soviet republics that emerged in 1991, it was decided ONLY Russia would be the successor state with a nuclear capability. "Ukraine" had no say in the matter, effectively, and was never a nuclear power. Same as Kazakhstan. Question, if your father's car is located in YOUR garage, and your father dies, does that mean that car, by law, is now yours? Yes, or no?

@caravanstuff2827 Ukraine never had any nuclear weapons, so you can retract that lie to start with. If you were living in Africa, you would learn just how much Russia is respected and applauded and just how much Ukraine and the West is despised and shunned.

@mortenrobinson5421 yes it does, if it wants to make money on the export of its grain (most exporting countries do so to make some money, not for free or for fun). while there are Western sanctions on Russian banking and insurance and shipping, Russian grain can't go anywhere unless those sanctions are removed. so, effectively, Russia needs Western cooperation/permission on the sanctions to make the grain deal work for them.

@moravianlion3108 after James Baker's 1990 promise "no NATO expansion one inch further east" I think you'll find the Russians don't care for too many lectures on honesty from any Westerners.

@SpecialMuppetOperation oh yes, post 2014 and the coup that kicked democracy out of the window in Ukraine, Russia has no intention of recognizing any agreements that once pertained to the sovereign state of Ukraine. The post Maidan Puppet subsidiary of US/NATO INC, formerly known as Ukraine, deserves to be treated as the rogue state that it is. Yep, it's war baby, who cares what agreements regarding nukes and Belarus have been broken? Send cluster bombs Russia's way, expect Lukashenko to get Warsaw in the crosshairs of his nukes. This is what happens when you cross Putin's red lines and call his bluff.

@opensizhe yeah. so it's like allowing your child to go to soccer practice, then refusing to renew the kids' bus pass, but insisting "you are still 100% allowed to go to soccer practice" as the kid looks at you in stunned amazement. actually, it's worse than that because the signed agreement was to connect the Russian agricultural bank to connect to SWIFT, so it's Minsk Agreement Part 3, the West signs but ignores the contract, again.

@bonnie7898 ah, so suddenly, the person who had no idea that USSR was one of the allies in WW2 knows something about world food aid. very good. so, with such charitable generosity, as you claim, flowing out of the coffers of USA and EU, what would be the problem with the West providing the necessary grain to Africa if sanctions on Russia are so important to the West?
