Comments by "duncan smith" (@duncansmith7562) on "How seriously do NATO allies take Trump's comments on Russia? | DW News" video.
"just a campaign statement" this poor honey doesn't get it that Trump is the one candidate who says what he means, and means what he says.

@zepher664 the US is not charging a fee. it's holding the Euro liars to account for refusing to pay what they promised.
6
@hiddendagger7291 exactly so. some Europeans upset they got caught out looking for a free ride.
5
@PepeCoinMania and it was wrong for any NATO member to join Bush in his futile war.
4
@Purple_flower09 it was a promise. NATO leaders pledged to contribute at least 2% of GDP. If it wasn't a promise, why is not one single European leader standing up and proclaiming "we never promised any such thing"? check your facts.
4
NATO needs to learn to pay its bills. period.
3
@emmanuelonueze8080 i would say the risk to any country of a Russian attack is pretty much zero, unless said country thinks it's a really good idea to treat ethnic Russians as second class citizens.
2
Does your insurance company come to your aid when you are delinquent paying your bill? American taxpayers are fed up of the Euro freebooters. Pay up, or, yes, we'll be cheering on Putin's expansion. Maybe a dose of Putin would knock some sense into the Euro cheapskates.
2
Borrell is right, that NATO cannot be "a la carte". so, let's dissolve NATO completely. it is an expensive waste of time.
2
@michaelk.jensen1611 you are confusing the word "pledge" with "target". 2% minimum was pledged. Now, let us assume it was just a target. Would European NATO members be fine with USA declaring it couldn't make its 2% "target", but due to its massive debt, was going to contribute just 0.2% GDP? that would be fine for the likes of France and Germany?
2
@zepher664 once again, the fact you have to ask the question shows you have no clue what you know or don't know. understanding technology has nothing to do with the fact that there are considerable risks attached to storing so much personal info on one single device that you use repeatedly. pfft, lol.
2
only fools went to Afghanistan to fight so that the Taliban could take back control. NATO came to USA's help because without USA there would be no NATO.
1
@HuskyOwner-bl1jf how do you define what commitments a NATO member has, beyond paying its way?
1
@zepher664 the very fact you have to ask the question means you have no clue, just basing everything on your usual errant supposition and confused mindreading. yawn.
1
@michaelk.jensen1611 at the end of the day, the Europeans have to decide....either pay the 2% minimum or risk USA refusing to support them. Like any choice in life, it's a trade-off. Personally, I would be fine with Europe deciding that 2% is just a target and I would be fine with USA declaring that Article 5 only applies to those who met their target.
1
@TechTusiast no problem. Remember, Article 5 only declares that NATO members commit to an "appropriate response" to an attack on any of its members, so USA under Trump will, rightfully, decide what is an appropriate response to a NATO member that has failed to meet its 2% target. and one appropriate response might be to do nothing.
1
@zepher664 as if leaving your home state confers some extra special insight into the rights and wrongs of contributing to NATO.
1
@zepher664 good luck finding someone who was defrauded of every penny they have when their wallet was stolen, as opposed to all those fools who get their phones stolen and find their bank accounts emptied a few hours later.
1
@TechTusiast ok, let's take it as a recommendation and nothing more. like supporting Ukraine for "as long as it takes." not a pledge, not a promise, just a recommendation that can fall by the wayside whenever convenient.
1
@TechTusiast the very fact you have to ask the question shows how you doubt your own assertion. try again, dear student.
1
@TechTusiast on the other hand, if you want to illuminate the world and show exactly where my logic fails, then go ahead, bring it on.
1
@TechTusiast understood what? drop the pronoun "it" and refer to a specific thing. let's see who lacks logic here. fire away.
1
@mabuhayproductionltd3627 or they could be honest, and just say we want full NATO protection but the whole 2% thing is unaffordable for us, so, USA, just keep protecting us and pay our share.
