  2.  @putinmustenduplikegaddafi2236  no one here is comparing the two conflicts at all. I am highlighting the fickle nature of Western promises. The West promised unswerving support to the Afghans....until it was clear the Taliban could not be eradicated. Same is happening with Ukraine. It is becoming clear that Russia cannot be defeated, so support will disappear and the West will move on to the next victim country to embrace and then disappoint. My bet is on Taiwan.

  3.  @annnee6818  Not sure what makes you think 90% of Afghans miss the US presence. There is a good chance that at least 20% of Afghans are jihadists who believe the infidel has no right to even set foot in Afghanistan. The comparison is a simple one. The West promised the Afghans we would be there to support them no matter what, and then when it was obvious the Taliban could not be destroyed, the West gave up. Same is happening in Ukraine.
