@netiturtle what? Poland's joining the EU didn't hurt Dutch farming? so, Dutch farmers are a really happy lot, absolutely satisfied with their incomes and well-being? you need to talk to some Dutch farmers!

@darbas57 if Brussels allows Ukrainian agricultural products into the EU while Ukraine does not adhere to EU food production rules, then it would only be fair to scrap EU food production rules on EU farmers. Level the playing field.

@Zyzyx442 EU farmers want cheaper food too, and they can produce cheaper food, if EU lawmakers just abandon the insane Green restrictions imposed on farmers.

@netiturtle all the rules will be ignored for Ukraine. it will just be waived into the EU, no questions asked, though that assumes Russia won't win, but Russia will win, and may just allow a tiny rump Ukraine state into the EU.

@Zyzyx442 EU farmers want cheaper food, but it's the EU lawmakers that insist on tariffs, because they know that EU labour costs are much higher than non EU competitors'. EU farmers are fine with lower tariffs or no tariffs IF all the rules and regulations on their production is scrapped. Tariffs are only supported as a means of restricting competition DUE TO THE INSANE RED TAPE EMANATING FROM BRUSSELS. Brussels has to decide if the EU is a protectionist system, or a free trade system. it can't apply free trade doctrines to Ukraine, but protectionist doctrines to others. Won' t work, hence the protests.

@Zyzyx442 Ukraine's future will be decided by Russia, so we can be pretty sure that EU and NATO membership ain't gonna happen.
