@drfelren Scotland and England have more in common than they have differences and unity is right for both of them. Catalonia and Spain have more in common that they have differences and unity is right for both of them. Russia and Ukraine have more in common than they have differences and unity is right for both of them. People the world over express the first two of these ideas, and no one gets excited. Putin expresses the equally valid third idea, and the world has a meltdown. it's called russophobia and hypocrisy.

obviously she never read the Amnesty International report that confirmed Ukraine does indeed locate troops and weapons in residential areas. Therefore we can take Putin at his word, civilians are not targeted. Ukrainian military hiding among civilians are targeted. BTW, Bucha gone quiet recently! don't suppose the investigators are finding out the massacres there were reprisal killings by Ukrainians do you?

@rmdomainer9042 No one is defending Russia's human rights here. we are considering the empty claims made by Kiev and the fools who believe Kiev that they, the Ukrainians, never use human shields. it was debunked and explains so much. it also means Putin's words about not targeting civilian areas rings of truth more than Zelinsky's lies about Russia's "indiscriminate shelling". Turns out Russia was discriminately shelling Ukrainian forces hiding in residential areas.

regarding fleas lice etc, "not aware of any significant increase" ...translation, we are aware of an increase but choose not to label it "significant".

Russia doesn't release such figures, so everything is Western speculation and is worth nothing.

Thanks for pointing out what Putin points out, that Ukraine and Russia, through their connection through Kievan Rus, are pretty much one and the same place so should be unified.
1
@drfelren No logic dictates who should be under whom in such a union, merely that their shared history means they should be united. This is indeed Putin's point.
1
@leoncoetzer purely speculative. no one knows.

@janstapaj9689 capital of what ? in what sense did Russia "come" from Ukrainian territory? You make it sound like Russia was a void, only filled by Ukraine giving birth! were there no inhabitants at all in what is now Russia? no land? just a hole?
1
@drfelren so you would agree the forced unity of Donbass with Ukraine is tyranny?
1
@drfelren Is Catalonia part of Spain due to "forced unity"? when you say "will of the people" do you refer to the Catalan people. or the Spanish people?

@drfelren once again, you revert to the notion of one country having power over another with the term "belonging". if you can bring yourself to consider the concept of shared power, equal partners, you might even see how France and Germany could be considered one entity, joined by others in an organization called the EU. it is a valid argument that Germany and France have more in common than they have differences today, so should merge, which they have done. ain't no border when you cross from France to Germany. Same argument is made by Putin for Ukraine and Russia, and it is valid. Why not support his vision?
