Nobody wants to see weapons you sell suddenly pointed at you after the series of selling and buying. That's how military trading works. And americans know this very well. @PropaneWP no my dear, you are wrong here. First, Budapest was not ratified by any country and had no legally binding power. It was a recommentdation basically. You expect Russia to follow such a document, but don't want to remember about the promise not to expand NATO? Anyway the memorandum was dead the day the coup in 2014 happened. The memorandum also said that no party would try to influence the government aka change the regime in Ukraine and that was done by US, we all know it. They were the ones to break it. The government of Ukraine became illegitimate, Russia signed no agreement with those people/ Plus Russia promised to protect Ukraine UNLESS it goes against its own safety- and Ukraine made it's life goal to destroy Russia, their politicians said it on numerous occasions. Do you really expect Russia to follow an agreemne everyone else chose to break?

Is there no trouble or tension anywhere else in the world? All Latin America, Africa, Asia are nice and quiet? I have two answers for that. First, countries in those regions actually feel threat from the US, and for a good reason so. To join an alliance where US is the main rooster would be kind of strange. Second, NATO itself has no interest in any other countries apart from those around Russia. So even if any country from the other part of the world applies, we will never know it. It’s not the goal. They chose the target country well. Ukraine started claiming to be anti Russia pretty much from the beginning of their independence, their politicians made hatred for Russia their national idea. So the US, the leader of NATO, just needed to guide those tendencies. US arranged a coup in 2014 where the government that worked well with Russia was removed and those extremists came to power. At the same time American military wins a tender to build infrastructure to American standards in Sevastopol, where the Russian fleet is located. See, they created a situation where Russia HAD to act, it had no other choice. It reacted not in the way you expected, well that’s another story. Here we go, tension between Ukraine and Russia is created. Also you are forgetting that after 2014 huge regions of Crimea and Donbass were not in the pools any more- and they were the ones mostly voting against joining NATO. That’s how it works. The negative image of Russia is created and supported constantly. Russia attacked Georgia! And nobody says Georgia violently attacked its small neighbour and Russia was there to stop bloodshed. And that European Commission later stated Georgia was the aggressor in that conflict. Russia attacked Chechnya! And hardly anyone knows Chechnya is actually part of Russia, where there was terrorist trouble and Moscow has every right to make order in its territory. So Russia needs to look bad, a lot of resources is invested in it. And the west is real good at creating a needed picture, a narrative, twisting facts. We have never been as good as you at that, I have to admit. So here we go, the countries run to be protected

And if so, NATO bases around Russia really are of great danger and Russia def had to act since all attempts to negociate failed. So NATO with its action caused this conflict costing so many lives. I don't know why Sweden did that stupid thing. Has Russia ever invaded them or threatened to? They got defeated by Russia 300 years ago and have been paranoid ever since. In the modern reality the first blow will probably be the last and the other side won't even be able to react. US keeps crawling closer and the missle approach time is getting shorter while Russia is not doing the same. There are no Russian bases anywhere near US. Ukraine territory was critical, if there are US bases there, the protection perimeter around Russia is broken/ I don't care what Russian state media says, it's the same story in every country. But considering the lessons of the past we have to take this threat seriously
