  1. The host obviously never heard about detailed interviews you have to go through to rent an apartment in, say, Amsterdam. The fact that they don't talk openly about nationality doesn't mean they ignore it. If you are refused, you will never know why. So in fact, people in Russia are just being honest and save others some time and effort, and it's not connected with racism, which in this case called nationalism, btw, but with negative experience. There are also enough people who rent out without such conditions
