You should really change the title of this video as the glass bottle didn't fail, it perfectly accomplished what it was needed for and you even cite a few instances where they're still in use today. I still buy soda in glass bottles whenever I see it available, and while it's a special item in such instances, it does still crop up on a regular enough basis, and aside from that, all of the cooking oils I have in my kitchen are all in glass bottles and all of my spice containers are glass plus all of the jars of various things like pickles and the like are glass.
