My experiences with other programmers tells me that the ones who are fearful of being replaced don't understand the technology or why we're still many years off from such a thing happening, if it ever does, but in general most of them are just bad programmers anyway and probably should be replaced. Of course, the researchers working on what they falsely label AI, seem to mostly be of an intelligence level that I doubt we'll ever have true AI. Most prefer to call it AGI to differentiate concepts, but there's nothing intelligent about the current technology, so I see no justification for a second term. Instead, we should learn to call it what it really is, statistical modelling with digital Perceptrons using huge corpora of data. Personally, I think how the input is modeled is far more interesting than the output which other than image recognition software is probably beyond our current means.
