  1. I kind of hope they just pay the fine and redesign the lightning connectors and protocols so it's on par with USB C. And for that matter, I'd like to see the industry at large adopt them as the connector of choice. Apple does have some manufacturing problems here, but the lightning connector should be sturdier than USB C if they didn't engineer them to fail. Think about it, you plug a solid bar into the slot and it's done.
