Personally, I feel like all API's should be free to access. There are ways that they could embed ads even if the API access was free, and as long as they were unobtrusive I would not only accept that but support them in that, but they not only use obtrusive ads, and pretty much every other website does too, but they want to charge money for the API. I only ever use any of these sites through a desktop computer with a web browser, so the API literally doesn't affect me, but I still think it should be free. Although, I do wonder what people use on Reddit that's NSFW. I thought it was for chatting with people in a forum like environment, but admittedly I've only ever looked at anything on the site a couple of times when it popped up as a result while searching for something that it turned out was completely unrelated to the anything on Reddit.
