  1. Weird about your networking, mine always shows up as eth0 and for wifi enabled computers I also see wlan0. A lot of what you do, other than the compiling and chroot, translates to a few other distros. I had to setup partitions and UEFI manually when I installed Slackware, and then I promptly disabled UEFI booting once it was working. It is odd that so many people pronounce abbreviations that should be spoken in whole, like chroot. Perfect opportunity to explain that it means "change root" and why you need to do that.
