@awesomeferret If someone is saying something false, you should tell them so and correct them, but never report. The moderators will delete with impunity and it is absolutely wrong. Especially given that they will not bother to check for correctness. On the issue of fair use, it's a doctrine but it's not codified in law, technically, while a judge might allow it, it's still illegal and the DMCA codifies the illegality of it.

@awesomeferret It's because it literally is true. The DMCA makes it illegal to copy your own discs. There is no clause in there that respects fair use regardless of what someone else said. Prior to the DMCA passing it was perfectly legal to copy your own things for backup purposes, but not now. Also, stop reporting things for any reason other than spam.

Not that I would condone downloading Linux ISO's, but why would anyone need larger than 720p ISO's as your eyeballs can only take in so much Linux. Linux looks perfect at 720p on a 40inch monitor.

@barongerhardt When I was a kid, one of our local channels had DS9, and they were perpetually fuzzy. The best you could adjust the antenna it still had roving dot patterns. I watched every single episode the first few times that way, new and repeats. Watching the show for the first time in years on Netflix with whatever image quality they have, it's obviously better than when the show was new, but it feels wrong to me somehow. You know what I mean?

@awesomeferret Slander is a completely different matter. It should be reported when it actually is slander, but not everyone can correctly identify valid criticism versus outright abuse. I would say, if it looks like slander, inquire and if they confirm it by either saying yes or being abusive, then obviously report it. Although, even that isn't a foolproof method because some people are perpetually offended, so getting a secondary opinion from someone who's hard to offend would be best.

@barongerhardt Maybe my eyes aren't as good as yours or maybe growing up in a time with rabbit ears and no cable has made me immune to bad ISO quality. To me, 720p is good enough, and then some to enjoy Linux.

@rakeau And yet it still looks clean and clear to me, especially when the ISO is encoded right.

@barongerhardt Larger than 40" !? My eyes are only so big, as is my house. If I were to go any larger I'd need to sit outside to enjoy that much Linux.

@333Orobas 666 Exactly that. A company censoring content is the biggest reason to horde. I don't know what tumblr offers, but regardless, a company shouldn't be able to delete it from peoples' devices. They're not even the first to do it either, but that should be illegal, EULA or not.
