I can't seem to find anyone to agree with me on this, but freedom of movement is a right and the means by which you exercise that right are at your discretion, not the government's. I look at this the same way I look at the right to self defense, but oddly, most don't understand my position.

@FrederickTheAnon14W If they try to force the issue, they'll almost certainly take it slow by grandfathering in older cars for a decade or so. Have you heard the boiling frog analogy? If they move too quickly they'll have a revolt on their hands.

@RanEncounter Why not both? Have good public transit so that people can save money and get around, but if they have the funds to drive their own car. Not to mention, in an emergency you won't be able to merely use public transit to say get to a hospital. When seconds count, the next bus is 10 minutes away.

@SuzukiJim You don't have to buy them, you could make them from melted down aluminum cans. Make a Gingery lathe or mill and it's practically free. A lathe would be easier and is perfectly capable of making the majority of parts while still taking up less space. Shallow depth of working area but wider base, and you could replace your TV and the stand it's on and it's the same footprint. A welder can be made from a broken microwave and takes up even less space than the microwave does.

By now, hopefully you'll realize that the modern Captchas are all forcing us to be the free labor to train the AI's that will eventually steal all of our rights. It should be illegal.

@aladdin8623 It's not that it's impossible, just that our current intelligentsia are riding an ebb tide. Once Idiocracy finishes playing out in our civilization, then we may see a flood tide and true AGI will be achieved, if humanity still exists that is.

@Shrouded_reaper You do realize that for nearly a century, machinists would machine all kinds of parts without even once using a CNC. In fact, quite a few parts that went into vehicles of all sorts, even airplanes, were made without once using a CNC. Maybe you don't know this, but there are still quite a few parts made without a CNC even today.
