  1. Obviously you meant to say 255, since you can't store 256 in 8-bits, and it probably wouldn't be a good idea to give everyone a single item by default when the counter is at 0. I do wonder if there's actually enough memory with the X16 that you could perhaps use a 16-bit value for the count, or if that's taking it too far.

  3. You could always subscribe and just use your subs feed to catch videos. I still watch recommended videos from time to time, but it really helps to wrangle the 433 channels I really like to watch.
