  1. Okay, so someone buried something in their backyard, they didn't notice it when it happened because they have dirt instead of grass, and it's off-gassing something that got them high. Couple that with an air-burst meteor event and they hallucinated and half remembered some stuff and have convinced themselves it's aliens. As for the "whistleblower", he's a plant to distract people. One of many, and collectively they're working.
