  1. I'd suggest a combination of techniques for the best approach. For the military, active illumination should always be a last resort if it's ever used at all, but the current amplification tech coupled with IR as a backup would be the best. I'd love to see more development on IR tech to speed up the processing of the image so there's less delay.
