  1. The one point I disagree with here is the bit about the Matrix series. I think the rise in stakes was not only inevitable, but appropriate, especially considering what the world was like within the context of the movie trilogy itself. The whole world was taken over and fully encompassed by the machines. The stakes being the world literally in the balance only makes sense.
