Not that you'll see this, but I don't think we share the same taste in movies. Quite a few perhaps, but certainly not all. Sure it had a simple story, sure it was obvious pandering, but it was still a good movie, and if you compare it to today's movies it was absolutely brilliant. Of course, it did piss me off that they killed Michelle Rodriguez, and possibly Sigourney Weaver, depending on what happens in the second.
