  2. You missed at least one more influence. Those ships that the brother and sister duo had were clearly Flash Gordon ships. It actually wasn't that bad of a movie, because it just copied all the greats. Sure, watered down and conflicting moods, but it wasn't *bad*, it just wasn't good.

  4.  @Johncarver7777  This whole conversation is hilarious. People can like what they want. The movie didn't suck, but that's because it copied a bunch of good movies that executed these ideas better. It could've been a much better movie, and it should have been, but it also could've been way worse and wasn't. And if they pay for a subscription to Netflix then they aren't paying extra to see this movie as it's included in the monthly cost. Although, in this case I wouldn't fault anyone for pirating it, watching it once, and then deleting it, even if they have a subscription.

  5. The acronym is actually DIE { Division, Inequality, Exclusion }. And the company that picked it up is Netflix. Draw your own conclusions there, but they'll certainly be right.
