I would argue that Windows in general isn't popular. How many people actually genuinely like it as opposed to are stuck on it because of platform lock-in with their file formats and their Adobe and other douchebag companies holding people's data hostage.

@terrydaktyllus1320 That's if they're happy and cheerful about it. Not all of them are. Some hate Windows vehemently but just don't know what Linux is or have only heard the FUD. For them, we should feel sorry.

@sta1nless While it's certainly true that most people don't even know what an OS is, let alone the differences between them, they do know that they can't run Photoshop and other Adobe programs outside of Windows, along with a whole slew of other programs. If not for the proprietary software that people are stuck using, they would learn about other platforms and move to them. Mostly this is perpetrated by their employers, so even when they know better, they're stuck. For the majority of home users that don't play the latest and greatest triple A games, they could get by with Linux and any browser, they just need to be pushed to it.
