  1. As long as you're not doing a proper TUI then a console app is easier, but once you start interfacing widgets, that's when it's better to have GTK. Or if you're into C++, Qt. I use GTK more, but even I will admit that Qt is just better. I'd love to see someone fork GTK and overhaul the whole thing.
