I actually got my parents to use Linux. All they ever do is browse the web, check their e-mail and print PDF's and the like, so it was easy to get them on it. After seeing that video that LTT did about the Pi KVM, I may get one of those to do tech support for them.

@thingsiplay Yeah, my parents aren't big on gaming. Even if I could convince them to play a game, it'd be something old and capable of running on potatoes anyhow.

Would it be good enough to play the sound as you log in?

@Raspredval1337 So that's no to settling. I'm sure there's a way to do it, maybe by editing the startup script for sddm. Have it use aplay in the background or something like that before it actually calls sddm. Do you use OpenRC, systemD or something else?

@Raspredval1337 That you'd have to look up then. For me I could just insert a call to a music player at the start of /etc/rc.d/rc.4 and it would do it. I added a startup sound to my ~/.profile for when I first login, but since I just leave the computer up for as long as there's no long term power outage I never hear it anyway. I used ogg123 for that because the sound I used was .ogg .
