Speaking as a programmer, I'm not a fan of programming languages as configuration files. Might be okay for build environments, but definitely not for something that end users see.

@milohoffman274 GitHub page shows 95.7% Rust, so yeah, it is political, no matter what lies they tell to obscure their true purpose.

Makes me want to write one and call it that. Although, I wouldn't use a programming language for the configuration.

@haquire It kind of does, if the tuber turns on certain options.

@Anonymous4045 Unfortunately, everything can be by merely making certain choices, both in terms of design and implementation as well as in terms of the proponents of said language. The choice to go in one direction merely for political reasons is far too pervasive in the software industry as a whole, but nowhere more so than in open source.

@Anonymous4045 Okay, one example right off the bat is immutable types. Forcing users of the language to utilize yet another keyword (YAK), to allow for mutability when that's what makes computers useful. It's not that I'm opposed to YAK when it's to make something more clear, but in this instance it convolutes the code to enforce a belief that users aren't smart enough to decide when something should actually be const.

@Anonymous4045 Actually, it is. If you don't think these kinds of decisions are political then you clearly aren't a programmer. Also explains why you didn't have any kind of rebuttal.

@Anonymous4045 That's a narrow definition of political, and I didn't want to bother arguing this, but my original point was never about the language anyway and you honed in on that because of your narrow and incorrect definition of what political means. So, you're not a programmer nor a cunning linguist, but you decided to argue it. The proponents of Rust are vile and very political, so to use it as a language knowing that is indeed a political move all on its own, despite any design decisions. And instead of attempting to dispute anything you opted for sealioning. You've got a smooth brain, buddy.
