@merulox I only take my hands off the keyboard when I'm using a web browser. Most of my time I'm in a terminal window doing things, but everyone's workflow is different.

My problem is that they're capital D's, auto-complete can be programmed to scroll through multiple entries. Just add to your .bashrc: bind '"\t":menu-complete' and on the next line: bind '"\e[Z":menu-complete-backward' # that is bind single quote, double quote backslash t double quote colon menu dash complete single quote and bind single quote backslash e left bracket capital Z double quote colon menu dash complete dash backward single quote if the font is hard to read. Also, I have some shell variables for folders I use a lot, such as export g='/home/me/Games' so I can cd $g/ha<tab> to get to half-life, for instance, or cd $g/ret<tab> for retroarch.

@merulox Especially now days when so many using only a touchscreen device, but if more people experienced the joys of it I'd bet they'd love it.

@DylanMatthewTurner Wouldn't hurt to organize what's in each folder too. In one folder just do: mkdir {a..z}; then move things alphabetically: for i in {a..z}; do mv [${i@U}${i@L}]?* $i; done and then ignore the errors as future use. As in if you have nothing that starts with a g it'll give an error of mv: cannot stat '[Gg]?*': No such file or directory

@QuotePilgrim Interesting. I tend to keep files organized into folders for a given project and then alphabetize the projects. Then I've got some main folders outside of that organization. I don't remember when I downloaded things unless I do an ll, which is obviously an alias for ls -l.

For me, I like to look at the background picture, so I don't have any icons and I autohide the taskbar. I don't use the quick launch or the menu, I just assign a shortcut key for the apps I use the most and press that. Win+F for FireFox, Win+C for Chromium, Win+O for Opera, Win+K for Konsole and so on. I've got multiple desktops, so icons can't really hide and even if I used every desktop I could hit Win+D to show it. I tend to use a terminal as my app launcher and always have at least 4 open for other tasks so Win+F{1..12} to get to a desktop and a simple cd where/my/file/at; foo bar baz & works fine for those programs that I use infrequently enough to not bother shortcutting. I don't remember if it was the default, but Win+, brings up the settings app for me, so adding shortcuts is easy. I've recently been toying with the tiling functionality and set up the Win+NumPad{1..4,6..9} to region shift things. It's kind of handy when you have four terminals and want to use all the screen real estate.
