  1. I would say bloat is just the way things are with modern computers. Slackware is generally a pretty tight distro, yet I'm using 32gb of space on the main system partition. If I include my local install folder which I can't fully qualify without YouTube filtering my post, that's another 7gb of programs. I'm sure someone will say that's still light, but when I first started using Slackware, I could get a full install with KDE and a bunch of other programs, including web browser, office suite and even GIMP in around 2gb of space. Granted, I did go for a full install and there's probably over 100 programs that I'll never use, I can't say as though it was that different to 25 years ago.
