I understand what you're trying to say, but I think everyone should avoid AI entirely. Playing with forces you don't understand can lead to getting very burned. If everyone understood true responsibility in how to properly deal with such technology then it might be okay, but so many people just don't understand what they're doing. The people working on it now don't understand what they've already unleashed and how much danger we're all in because of nefarious humans. In short, it won't be the AI that kills us, because it'll never reach sentience or sapience, whichever nebulous term you wish to use, but it will be misused by humans to effect equal carnage.
