  1. You graduated HS in 2013?! Damn, you make me feel so old. I do agree that Linux and Windows both have bad defaults, but I couldn't comment on Macs since I haven't used one since probably before you were born. However, I don't really agree with the complaint that poor defaults on Linux require each new install to take hours of setup. I've been carrying forward my config files for numerous pieces of software from as far back as when I used Win98. For instance, my ~/.vimrc has maybe had 4 or 5 lines added to it for each year since I started using Vim plus everything I initially put in there at that time. I don't have to spend more than 2 seconds configuring it for each computer it's installed on because I can just copy over the old config to the new computer. Most of my other configs really haven't changed by much at all in over 20 years.
