Yeah, we don't want to become that which we have fought against. The left jumps on any conspiracy theory that makes them feel warm and fuzzy, we should be better than them. Also, the myth about Ada Lovelace is especially irritating to me, because it's almost always parroted by an idiot who wants to use it for some female empowerment slogan. Taking away the accomplishments of others is not the correct way to empower people. Besides, there are plenty of women involved in computer science that they can and should look up to, there's no need to lie about who the first programmer is to inflate egos. I kind of feel the same way about the story on who coined the term open source. It feels like a glory grab to put down men.
