I think you may be mischaracterizing the hatred for the BSOD. It's not that they're blaming it, but that they hate seeing it because it means something went wrong with their system that they can't fix. Towards that point, it wouldn't matter what color it was, and they could very well have used red and the meme would be an RSOD, but they wouldn't hate it for existing, rather they would hate it for the error occurring.
Of course, with Linux, it won't matter what color they use because I'll never see it anyway. In the past 5 years, I've had one instance of the kernel panicking and that was entirely my own fault. In the last 25 years, I've probably had at most 5 kernel panics, at least 3 or which I either know or suspect were my fault. If people migrate to Linux and use it like my parents do, then they probably won't ever have a kernel panic.
