You know what really makes this funny for me is that when I've used Windows over the past 20 years, my favorite compiler to use has been LCC-Win32 which originally started as a Microsoft Research project. The original project is still "open source" to this day, and a book was published for it because it was intended to be easily retargeted, and without modifications it only ran on UNIX and Linux systems. The work that Jacob Navia put into getting it to be a complete system and to run on Windows itself was rather extensive, and he added some incredibly useful features such as operator overloading. I checked a few weeks or months ago, I forget when exactly, and he's even upgraded the whole system for 64-bit code. I've actually used quite a few projects that got their start as Microsoft Research projects, and yet I still hate them a lot for how they've treated Linux and its community as well as for how much code they've stolen with zero credit given. Certain people will argue against calling it code theft, but either way, because of the XP leak it can actually be proven now.

@ThatMfTaika Since most people can't count in binary anymore, it checks out.
