@Error_4x5 You never know, it could be intentional. Stranger things have happened and companies can be ruthlessly evil when trying to push their own agenda.

PhoenixRising Not solely that, but yeah, a pretty big contributing factor.

@notuxnobux Windows may not, but alternative methods have always existed.

That's not the only way, especially if the file is under your control, but it's not like it's hard to just wrap that in a single function and call it something like CreateFileTransactedA.

Since I quit using Windows around the time XP was new I had to look that up. Apparently it provides atomic disk operations on files so that you don't have data corruption. I guess it was their attempt to standardize a solution, something that I'm sure good developers could already handle without Microsoft's help. Depending on what the developers of P5R were intending, it might not be such a good idea to merely replace the calls with non-transactional variants. It would definitely take more effort, but I hope they actually implement the atomicity instead of just using stubs. Also, I'm wondering if you might do a video on anti-cheat and delve into how it actually works. I have a lot of assumptions on how it might work, but I've not done that kind of work in RE in a good few years. Last time I had done so SoftICE was a thing.

I had one, which came with the console. You can bet there was some heartbreak deleting saves, including one by accident that was just before Aeris' death on FF7.

@BrodieRobertson You must be pretty happy then that we now have great emulators. If only I could find a Dex drive for my old saves. I've got at least 3 unfinished plays on FFT and 1 on FF7. Assuming the cards still work.
