It's incredibly dumb to use a blacklist anyway, since the scammers will just change the URL they're using in a few minutes. Worse yet, since they're often in another country they won't even be prosecuted. You might say "extradition treaty", and the prosecutor might say "too much work to do that". Our entire justice system has become corrupt and the few good prosecutors and judges really can't correct the problems we have. It really is a dystopian future that we're headed towards, and far too many people have failed to realize that the slippery slope is real.

@BrodieRobertson And you can do a lot of things with a moderate amount of CSS and no JS that doesn't add up to 50mb of cruft. More people need to learn that lesson.

It's because Google is lying.

@somenameidk5278 I'm going to reiterate what I said, it's because Google is lying. To understand why it's true, consider that 5 billion devices do not access the internet every day. So regardless of whether their code is actually running on or for those devices, and regardless of whether they find anything ever, they're certainly not keeping them safe every single day. And truthfully, they're not keeping anyone safe because they deliberately allow malicious content in their ads. You can dispute the use of "deliberate" here and call it incompetence, but it's impossible to dispute that they allow it whether it's intentional or not. Also, intentional here need not mean that it's malicious in nature, though their motivations lead to malicious actions.
