  1. I doubt you'll like my method, but I have shortcuts setup to push windows into quadrants, halfs and full screen as well as to minimize applications. Every time I open a new terminal, I either push it to a quadrant, or half screen it. I use the numpad so I don't even have to think about the keys. 5 in the middle full screens a window, 0 obviously minimizes, and [1-46-9] for quad/half pushes.

  2. I still don't understand why people put the bar at the top, or make it persistent, but KDE all the way for me. I've been using it nearly as long as it has existed.

  3.  @vernonhinkelschmidt  Interesting, but why persistent? First thing I turn on when configuring is auto-hide for the taskbar.
