This doesn't really affect me since I can and do manually install whatever I need, but I love AppImages. As long as you can trust the source, it's as good as downloading programs on Windows. Download and run and it just works. At least that's been my experience.

@fuseteam That really depends on the project maintainers paying attention and doing their job. If they allow a submission through that compromises your security it'll be no different than using a random AppImage. Not to mention, if it's about the source of an AppImage, there are a lot of projects that do pre-built releases and offer up an AppImage as well, making them equally as secure, or not as the case may be, as downloading straight from a repo.

@fuseteam In the case of a distro, it's not just the distro maintainers but also the people who maintain all of the packages that the distro incorporates. So they have to either review billions of lines of code or trust project maintainers. So you're really trusting a lot more with a given distros repos when you really analyze it.
