Noticed, laughed, then watched the video. I get the feeling that you like detective shows or possibly things like Lost.

Agreed, we need to get more good press for the terminal and show more Windows users the great TUI's we have.

I haven't been a regular Windows user in like a decade and a half, but I definitely agree with a more Windows like approach to the GUI, only with improvements here and there. One of my favorite additions that I frequently monkey with in KDE is shortcuts. I'm constantly adding and deleting shortcuts, trying out all kinds of combinations to see what I instinctively want to use and thus remember better or that I forget and later delete. Recently I've added WK+6 to keep the current window on top. I chose it because the 6 is central on the keyboard and its shift key is ^ which graphically makes sense to me.

Indeed, it can be a struggle to get people to leave the locked in ecosystem. One way that might help is to get them to install a Windows build of some open source counterpart and have them play with it for some time at least one or twice a week. If they actually get used to it, they might be more open to switching. And if not, at least they might share what they disliked about it and that can potentially lead to changes that propagate.

@Mitsunee_ True, but outside of work, where they aren't forced to use a particular program, they can experiment. Some people have even been known to use Windows only while at work and Linux at home.

@Mitsunee_ Sure, and thanks for proving my point that I didn't even mention because it's nearly a universal truism that 90% of people will take everything I say the wrong way and be exceedingly hostile towards me because of it.
