For me on Slackware I've got deb2tgz and rpm2tgz to convert Debian based and Red Hat based packages to the package format that Slackware uses. Thus far it's worked on everything I've tried it on, but I know it's not perfect and will fail on something.

Dang Brodie, that hair grows fast. As for the LURE, I like the idea. I feel like it's a practical solution. As for my own impractical idea on how to go about making a more portable package format would be to come up with a base target platform, like LFS before customizing it, and building packages against that. Come up with a target install folder and then anyone that uses it could have it beside their own system or distros could be based off of it. Like I said, my idea is impractical, but I can dream.

The best Linux distro there is. ;P

@terrydaktyllus1320 I'd wager that Randall would be the first to admit his lack of drawing skills, but funny is subjective. You have to have a more technical knowledge base to understand XKCD and find it funny. For you, you might find ExplainXKCD very helpful.

@ArsenGaming Just as a point of clarification, you'd actually be a part of generation Z. Millennials would be either your parents generation or the one after them, depending on how early they got started on making kids. As for a universal package idea, I hope you succeed. I'd go about it in a slightly different way, but your method is certainly more practical.
