@tacokoneko It's perfectly understandable why someone would want more than 60hz or why someone would use Linux. It's completely baffling to me why anyone would want screen tearing. You're going to have to explain that one to me.

@ukyoize I'm definitely going to need more than that. At 60hz you're going to notice when multiple frames are tearing in a row, but not a single frame of delay on a piece of information, which I'm assuming you mean a HUD.

Do you have a small enough hard drive that you actually care about that? Do you perhaps have a setup where /home isn't on its own drive?

Since I'm one of those dreaded KDE users, I can switch anytime I want. I've tested it out and last time I checked there were features missing that I used. But I don't update more than one every year or two, so if next time I update it works perfectly between X and Wayland, then I don't see why I should care either way. Of course, I'll have to find a new simple drawing program to replace xpaint, and don't suggest GIMP, because I said simple and I mean it.

That's a fair point. Though, there are some security concerns that I have with X, and I'd hope that Wayland solves them. Only reason I haven't switched yet is because there are a few things that I can't do with Wayland yet.

Interesting. Does X use clone, and is it more performant than Wayland?

@PetraleiTanyl I would assume if you're not creating a thread then, that epoll would be faster. I'll have to look and see if anyone has done some performance testing on that, because it'd be rather interesting if X was faster overall.

@PetraleiTanyl Well, it's clear that they don't want to develop anything for X. The majority of the team used to work on it and could've fixed any problems they had with X, but instead of starting such a process decided to start from scratch on a new project. As long as they get it to work, since everyone is pushing in that direction, I'll use it, but I personally feel that's the wrong direction to go. It might well have taken them as long as they've spent working on Wayland to get up to speed with X to fix it, but even if it had we'd still be better off in the long run.
