  1. I still don't understand why anyone would want tearing, but if it looks better for anyone then go for it. However, GNOME is the best spokesperson for KDE.

  4.  @Tooney712  Given that they primarily do C++ because of game development and Qt is the best GUI framework for C++, it makes sense. I've always preferred C to C++ though, and thus GTK has always felt like a more natural fit for me, but I've been learning RayLib and it's pretty good.

  8.  @yorimirus  That just sounds so weird and wrong. I always make input checking asynchronous. Am I doing it wrong or are they?

  9.  @DalenPS  As far as I can tell only the rendering thread would be paused, which I would actually expect for each frame. Maybe they're just not communicating between the threads the same way.

  10.  @yorimirus  Ah, well there's your problem, using Unity. Maybe with their licensing going down a worse route than Epic's, more people will believe me when I say it's the worst engine, regardless of open source versus proprietary. However, if you've not done so, write at least one full game without using a preexisting engine. It could be a simple Tetris clone or whatever, but do it at least once.

  11.  @yorimirus  That kind of makes me a little sad. When I first started programming things were both easier and harder. The second language I learned was QBasic and hours of modifying Gorilla and Nibbles really got me to enjoy doing it, tracing through a program to understand how it works and seeing how a tiny change in one place could really affect things in a big way. If you started after things became so sterile and boring, then you probably never had that moment where you fell in love it. Even if it's not in the same field, doesn't even have to involve computing at all, I hope you find something in life you're passionate about, if you haven't already.

  12.  @DominikZogg  I know it makes me a worse player, but I prefer a controller so I can sit back and relax on the couch rather than being tethered to the desk all day. Of course, even with a keyboard and mouse I bet most would easily beat me.

  15. KDE let's you turn off the compositor. I don't use GNOME, so I'll just take your word for it there.
